Pantograph PDF Pattern with Tracing Paper

This one way to use a pantograph pdf pattern. There are other ways to use a pdf pantograph pattern.

You can stitch holes on the paper and use pounce chalk to create the design on the fabric. Then just stitch along the chalked design.

You could also use fabric markers to trace the pattern directly onto the fabric. The last two ways save paper.

This method comes in handy if you don't have a computerized longarm machine.

My mission for 2026 is to help as many quilters as I can to finish their own quilts!

I have two ways to help! I can either edge to edge quilt your quilt for you on my longarm machine, or I can teach you how to free motion quilt!

I have in person and online classes teaching free motion quilting. Join my email list to stay in the loop for all scheduled classes!

If you aren't ready to take a class but want to dip your toes into free motion quilting, I have plenty of free resources to get you started! I love this method of tracing a pantograph pattern in the video!

This is a wonderful way to get some practice without worrying about messing up your quilt. I don't think anyone will mess up their quilt anyway! Even if you just meander around or quilt straight lines, it will turn out awesome! So there is no such thing to me as messing up a quilt. But I know the fear is real for many new free motion quilters.

So having a pantograph pattern to trace might be a good first step to build some confidence!
